Tech Tip- Condenser Evaluation
How do I know when the condenser needs cleaning?
This will be the most informative two minutes you can spend evaluating your condenser during operation. First make sure your condensate pump is actually pumping condensate out, the cooling tower is working with fans on, and the circulation pump is pumping. Now just go out to the evaporator and with an IR scanner check the temps as shown. The condensate should be colder than the vapor entering the condenser significantly. If they are the same temperature then the condenser is saturated and needs to be cleaned of scale build up.
